Maths at John Bramston

'Good Mathematics is not about how many answers you know... it's how you behave when you don't know the answer'

Article 3 - The best interests of children must be the primary concern in making decisions that may affect them. All adults should do what is best for children. When adults make decisions, they should think about how their decisions will affect children.

Together we ensure that Maths has a unique place in our curriculum allowing children to apply, describe, analyse and justify their findings.

At John Bramston we strive to provide a challenging, stimulating environment where children experience a sense of awe and wonder as they investigate mathematical problems, but also encourage children to make links across the different areas of Maths.

Our Aims:

To implement the current legal statutory requirements of the National Curriculum in a fun, engaging and creative way.
To foster positive, inquisitive attitudes allowing children to challenge and discover various mathematical concepts.
For our children to develop a 'can do' attitude and perceive themselves as mathematicians.
To broaden children's knowledge and understanding of how mathematics is used in the wider world.
For our children to use and understand mathematical language and recognise it's importance as a language for communication and thinking.
