Welcome to John Bramston Primary School
Headteacher's Message: Article 28 : Children have the right to education
It is both a privilege and an honour to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of this remarkable school. I would like to extend a warm welcome to the children, parents and carers, families, friends, staff, governors and members of the local community who all play a central part in the life of John Bramston Primary School.
As a community, we are proud to be a UNICEF Rights Respecting Gold School (reaccredited in June 2025) upholding the conventions 42 Articles and hold the GOLD Schools Mental Health Award (reaccredited in December 2022) ensuring pupils wellbeing is prioritised and central to everything we do. This ethos underpins all practice at our school and partnership with our families and adherence to expectations is essential.
Our Core values are Aspiration & Achievement, Creativity & Enjoyment and Respect & Responsibility; these values make our school a happy and harmonious place to learn and work where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential supported by our dedicated staff and community.
Our prospectus states that “We believe that children can develop responsibility, with respect for themselves and each other, thus creating a community that has values and attitudes that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives”.
At John Bramston we are a community of learners. Our approach to learning is a Person-Centred Approach, encompassing the needs for the whole child, adopting ‘Learning Without Limits’ challenges. Caring relationships are encouraged based on respect, understanding and awareness of diversity. Through ‘Character Education’, ‘Growth Mindset’ (Can do attitude) and Metacognition Styles of Learning, our approaches enable children to develop into successful and confident lifelong learners and citizens of the future.
We hope that your child will learn a great deal whilst they are with us, that they are happy and that they enjoy learning. Children should be at the centre of everything we do. We uphold our actions from Article 3: Working towards what is best for each child.
