Travel using public transport
TfL information on travel using public transport - Safer Travel Guidance
Where possible, children and young people are encouraged to avoid public transport, particularly at peak times, and to walk or cycle to school or college. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to safely store bikes and scooters at the current time so parents are asked to take these home with them during the school day.
Where your child relies on public transport to get to school or college, and cannot walk or cycle, the safer travel guidance for passengers will apply.
Advice for parents and carers if someone in the household shows signs/symptoms of COVID 19
If your child or someone in your household or any support bubble is showing COVID-19 symptoms:
Do not send your child to their nursery, childminder, school or college.
Do:
- Follow COVID-19: guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection
- Arrange a test if you or your child develops symptoms.
- Inform your child’s school or childcare provider of the symptoms and later the results of the test.
- If the test is then positive, engage with the NHS Test and Trace process.
The main symptoms of coronavirus are:
- a high temperature - this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough - this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
